Dante Greenman

Drew up a chracter that developed in my head this morning while I was in bed.

Meet Dante Greenman (So named by his caretaker and later lover who raised a plush patch of moss for the course of a year that eventually developed into this man)

Yeah, so Dante came from some moss. The soft fluffy kind that will grow a carpet over a surface; which is what he did in the sunroom of her apartment. The woman (Rose) took loving care of her plants, though the moss especially. She always spoke to it, would read in that room in the warm sunlight, etc. Around when the moss took up about half the sunroom's floor Rose had a particularly bad day at work or something (sorry if things are vague, this WAS a dream) and laid on the soft moss while weeping.

Out of a desire to help her somehow or do SOMETHING the moss formed a humanoid torso and head(hollow and flimsy with no facial features) but only just barely, no hands, still in the bed of moss up to his elbows. But it was enough to get Rose to stop crying. From then she named him Dante.

But that took a LOT out of his energy reserves so he did not respond to her for several days, but she redoubled her care and probably after a week he was strong enough to manifest again. Over the next year his form became more and more defined. Got more body parts (though still looked like a mannequin covered in moss) and eventually he could separate himself from the moss bed. In time he could even walk from the sunroom into the other parts of the apartment. Other changes followed: eyes, ears, mouth, nose. After he formed lungs and vocal cords he could start actually speaking with her instead of just listening.

And with more time, he became human-looking and strong enough to go out with Rose.

Now how my dream ended was Rose and Dante coming home from a date. Imagine them laughing, she's holding onto his arm and they had a wonderful night.

Then Dante stumbles, Rose tries to catch him but he's solid now and too heavy. She cradles his head and shoulders and asks him what's wrong, but he's fading fast and can't respond. Rose looks up, she needs to get him home! Then cold terror splashes over her like freezing lightning. In the distance she sees a pillar of smoke, her apartment building is on fire.

The sunroom is burning.
